  1. How to Mentally Prepare for Weight Loss

This week's theme is to mentally prepare for weight loss.

Nothing happens until you are in the correct frame of mind. We have all been distracted with the election, the economy and elevated stress levels. This can trigger the habit of using food as a way to calm fear of being out of control.

This fear feeds off of the negativity that is being perpetuated by worrying and talking about how bad things are. It grows until stress, fear and self doubt are normal. The world may say this is normal, but I'm sorry -- if that' the case, then I don't like normal.

Hope and happiness are natural to us, so don't do what is "normal" my dear friend. Normal is warped. Step back and take a deep breath. You were meant to be healthy, happy and at peace. This is in our nature. It is natural to us... if we don't believe the world's opinion of normal.

Let's redefine normal and consider what is natural: waking up feeling rested, eating for nourishment, feeling loved by your family, having a community to turn to, having time in your day for a cup of tea or a meal with your family that is not rushed. It is having time to offer thanks for all that you have been given -- it's having the strength and desire to walk daily and take a minute for daily reflection.

The Spock character on Star Trek is anything but normal yet he always told us to "Live long and prosper!" I like that Vulcan sentiment and think about it often. It makes me smile. Smiling is not normal these days, but is natural to me.

This week I am going to ask you to do two things. First, pray. This world needs healing.

Second, let go of the world's definition of normal, smile and return to your nature. Begin to define what is natural to you.
