Still Hungry on 1200 Calorie Meal Plan

Hello All, I have been on the 1200 Calorie Meal Plan for about 5 weeks now. I work out 3 days a week (3 hours) per week. I find myself still hungry in between meals. I would like to loose about 20 pounds but I have only  lost 2 pounds since I started. What kind of foods should I snack on?  I am a 174 pounds, 5'10 in height. Of course the food taste great but I am almost fed up with little to no weight loss. Does anyone have any advise?

1200 and still hungry

I understand what you are saying. I learned from other diets about volume method. Try adding lots off veggies (no cal.) To your food and are you having a snack? You may not be getting enough food. Try adding a 100 cal snack in the afternoon. Make veggie soup that you can eat anytime for almost no calories! Good luck!

7 Pound Loss

Hello All, I just wanted to give everyone an update.  After meeting with the nutritionist and her finding nothing wrong with my diet I did start adding a cup of cottage cheese and 12 almonds to my diet I have lost 7 pounds. Thank you all for the motivation and support.

I like that formula

Add 12 almonds, subtract 7 pounds! Way to go. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

Still hungry on 1200 Plan

Hi.  My name is Lori.  I am new to the D2Go program, but I have been focused on fitness and nutrition for years.  Trying to lose those last nagging 10 pounds!  Studies show you need to eat 5/6 times a day, about every 3 hours.  Keeps blood sugar levels even.  But, I would NOT divide your meals.  Instead, add 1/4 cup of nuts, such as walnuts or almonds, as a morning snack between breakfast and lunch.  This is particularly important if you are on the low-fat plan as you may not be getting enough "healthy" fats.  Not enough time to go into the science of it now, but healthy fats can actually trigger your body to release fat and will also help hunger pangs.  Then, for an evening snack, drink a high quality protein shake (about 200 calories) OR have 3/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese with 1/3 cup berries. (Strawberries have the least amount of sugar.)  Cottage cheese is awesome before bed as it helps your body repair itself as you sleep, very important if you work-out.  This should put you at about 1500 calories which is where you should be if you work-out regularly.  It's not too many calories!  I suspect you will see a dramatic drop and it will relieve your frustration.  Believe me, I've been there!  I work-out 6 days a week and I cannot lose weight on 1200 calories.  Can you ADD a couple of days of cardio into your schedule?  Huge fat-burner!  Do a minimum of 20 minutes HARD cardio.  Get that heart rate up and sweat and at 1500 calories, you should feel like an engine is revved-up inside of you as the fat-burning is taking place.  Try it and keep us posted!

Appt with Nutritionist

Hello All,

Thank you so much for the advise. I did have an appointment with the nutritionist this AM and she told me I need to incorporate a few more calories to hit 1500 everyday because of my workout regime. Lori, I am taking your advise. I will post again in about a month.  The low carb is not for me, I did try it but was very lethargic also I need carbs or I will go insane and probably start to binge.  Again thanks everyone and I will keep you all posted. I love the forum because it really does keep me going and I have learned so much.

You're making the right moves Mary

Keep up the good work and you'll be seeing great strides in no time. We're here for you!

  Hi Mary, After five weeks

Laughing  Hi Mary, After five weeks and no weight loss I don't know what to say, except maybe take a closer look at the plan you've chosen?  If you're on the low fat traditional maybe the lowcarb would be a better choice for you? I hear it's yummy and the low carbs and higher fat content might make you feel less hungry between meals.  also, I have now decided to break up my meals into smaller portions throughout the day, so I am "snacking" on the food that I already have set for the day.  Keeping the blood sugar more equal.  I hope you figure this out, have you also consulted with your Dr or Nurse practictioner?  Show the D2Go plan to one of them and see if they have anything to ass that may help.. tests for thyroid and hormones.. Now that I am on hormone replacement I am not ravenous as I once was!! Best to you!  And may you soon begin to lose the weight you want!

Great advice -- right on the money!

Breaking your diet into five smaller meals is what I tend to do too. It does keep me from ever getting hungry between meals!
