  1. Introducing Our New Meal Plan for People with Pre- and Type 2-Diabetes

Diet-to-Go has launched a meal plan specifically created for people who have Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. The plan’s calorie-controlled meals will also help people lose and manage their weight.

Our “Balance-Diabetes” meal plan follows American Diabetes Association’s nutritional guidelines. It also addresses the challenge people with the condition face when it comes to knowing what to eat, proper portion sizes and how to fit healthy eating into their busy lives.

Monitoring diabetes or prediabetes can be difficult for people with the condition and their health care providers, according to the American Diabetes Association’s newly released 2016 Standards of Care.

William H. Herman, professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Michigan and chair of the Association's Professional Practice Committee, says the need to cohesively outline goals and treatment in accordance with today’s challenges is an ongoing dilemma faced by people who have Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes.

"People with diabetes, their families, and their health care providers are constantly challenged to achieve diabetes treatment goals,” he says.

Karen O’Keefe, MD, a family physician in Bellingham, Washington, adds that she sees patients all the time who are looking to take control of their health. “Diabetes and prediabetes doesn’t have to be a debilitating condition,” O’Keefe says. “It’s something that people can gain control of, especially with a proper diet.”

Hilton Davis, our CEO, says the company’s food is meant to help busy people who are controlling or trying to prevent Type 2 diabetes eat right.

“This plan has been years in the making and is ideal for them,” he says. “Healthy eating made easy is our slogan and our unwavering goal.”

Diet-to-Go, rated #1 by epicurious.com in a blind taste test, offers 5-day and 7-day meal plans that include breakfast, lunch and dinner, or lunch and dinner only. All meals are delivered right to customers’ doors or are available for local pickup at one of 200 authorized Diet-to-Go pickup locations. Meals are controlled for carbohydrates (less than or equal to 45 gram carbs per meal) and are low in saturated fat (less than 8 percent on average). They are also low in sodium (1400 mg per day on average) and have an average 30 grams of sugar per day.

“This plan is easy and satisfying, but best of all, it really works!” O’Keefe said. “I recommend this plan to every patient with prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes, and they absolutely love it.”

We also provide free daily access to its professional staff Nutritionist and Certified Health Coaches, and an online forum, plus meal and exercise trackers to help our customers reach their goals.
