  1. This is So Easy: Long Island Woman Sheds 10 Pounds in First Month on Diet-to-Go

Many weight loss plans ask you to meal prep, weigh out portions or restrict yourself to things like salad and fruit.

But that can be tricky to stick with.

“Your hand becomes a bit heavy. You don’t weigh it out exactly how it’s supposed to be,” said Sandra, an Internet Director for three large dealerships in Long Island, New York. “I’m at a desk a lot. I do a lot of sitting, not a lot of movement.”

Sandra’s issues are the same many people face. It’s why so many people who embark on a diet fail — and often end up gaining the weight back within three years.

“I’ve done Weight Watchers and a lot of different programs. But I never keep it off,” Sandra said.

Sandra said a recent trip with her family where she got back feeling unhealthy and uncomfortable was the catalyst she needed to change.

She searched online for a meal program that was convenient and time-saving, and that would help with weight loss. She found Diet-to-Go, signed up — and she hasn’t looked back since.

“And the thing I like is two-fold,” Sandra said. “One, it provides meal prep, and almost no meal delivery does. Two, you get to pick your meals and substitute, and there’s a wide variety.”

The variety was especially important to Sandra.

“Because I work in the dealership long hours — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. — most of my meals are eaten while I’m working,” she said. “The convenience of the meals, bringing them here, you know there’s not just a protein and a carb. It’s fruit and different variety.”

Sandra shed 10 pounds in the first month, and since then has lost 6 more. She’s also saved money.

“I used to spend $30-$40 a day ordering food,” she said. “I thought, ’You know, I’m spending way too much to eat something that’s probably 3,000 calories.”

Sandra added that the ease of the program has also helped her stay on-track, as well as motivated her to exercise.

“This is so easy, I just grab the meal, I bring them to work and put them in the fridge, and then I just pull them out when it’s time to eat” she said. “I’m also using my Fitbit and the meals in conjunction with the LoseIt App, so I’m calculating all my meals.”

That even goes for the weekends, when Sandra makes her own meals.
“I want to be healthy. I have a goal in my head, but it’s not to get in a certain outfit, it’s just to be healthy,” Sandra said. [Nothing] before taught me how to eat in moderation or to learn portion control.”

Sandra said learning to eat less of the food she liked was critical for her.

“I also make healthier choices with snacks,” she said. “Where I used to be like, ‘Ok, I’m going to have some pretzels,’ I’m now having carrot sticks and tomatoes. My snacks are healthy snacks. They’re an apple or a banana. It helps a lot.”

Sandra also said although people at work have noticed (and she appreciates that!), it’s her own opinion that matters most.

“I’m my hardest critic on myself. I’ve those aha moments where people have talked about my weight behind my back … and it bothered me. I don’t ever want to not be taken seriously because of my weight or how I look. The feeling of putting on a pair of pants and having to struggle to get into them, I’m done.”

Sandra hopes to reach her goal weight of 175 pounds by June, something she’s already on-track to do.

“The combination, and the variety, and just the way [Diet-to-Go] does things...it’s over the top,” she said. “Every Diet-to-Go meal I’ve had, it’s like home-cooked. It feels like somebody made it for me.”
